HiTrend Plumbers is certified in Montgomery County's Green Business Certification Program at the Silver tier. As of October 2026, we're the only plumbing company in the program.
What the certification is
The Green Business Certification Program is a voluntary recognition program run by the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection together with the nonprofit Bethesda Green. Businesses earn points toward Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum recognition by putting green practices in place and documenting them.
The program looks at seven areas of how a business operates:
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Environmental purchasing
- Energy efficiency and renewable energy
- Sustainable landscaping and stormwater management
- Pollution prevention
- Transportation and travel
- Organizational commitment
What it means for you
💧 Less water down the drain
A running toilet or dripping faucet can waste hundreds of gallons. We fix leaks properly the first time and can show you WaterSense-labeled toilets and faucets that use less water without a weak flush. See running toilet repair.
⚡ Lower energy bills
Water heating is one of the biggest energy costs in a home. We size water heaters to your household and explain high-efficiency and tankless options, plus the yearly maintenance that keeps them efficient. See tankless water heaters.
🛡️ Safer drinking water
Backflow preventers keep lawn chemicals and fertilizer out of the public water supply. Testing and repairing them protects your family and your neighbors. See backflow testing.
♻️ Less waste
We haul away old water heaters, toilets, and fixtures when we replace them, and we'll tell you honestly when a repair makes more sense than a replacement.
🌱 Cleaner local streams
Grease, wipes, and harsh chemicals don't belong in drains. We'll give you simple tips to keep pipes clear and pollutants out of the sewer system.
✅ Checked by a third party
Anyone can call themselves "eco-friendly." This certification comes from a county program, and you can look us up in the official directory.
Same promise: the price comes first
Going green never means an upsell. You still get a written price before any work starts. When there's a greener option, we show you both prices side by side and you decide.
